Iceland’s foremost international artist, Björk, was voted Performer of the Year and Iceland’s rising star, artist Mugison, was chosen Songwriter of the Year and Lyricist of the Year. His song, Stingum af, or “Let’s run away”, was voted pop/rock song of the year. Local band, Of Monsters and Men, received the honorary title of Iceland’s brightest hope, Rúv.is reports.

Other local winners included Víkingur Heiðar Ólafsson, who took home the award for musical Performer of the Year in the classical and contemporary music category, while Benedikt Kristjánsson was voted Iceland’s brightest hope in the classical and contemporary music.
