Björk Cancels Iceland Airwaves Concerts

Björk has canceled both concerts scheduled for Iceland Airwaves music festival in Harpa Concert Hall November 4-8. The announcement was made by organizers of the festival this morning. Björk’s press release states that all her concerts planned between August 15 and December 31 this year have been canceled.

Tickets purchased for the show on November 4 in Iceland will be reimbursed. Those purchased by credit card will be automatically refunded, but other ticket holders should contact Harpa ticket sales at [email protected] for reimbursement.

Björk’s press release was provided on harpa.is:

“We’re really sorry that due to a scheduling conflict beyond our control, Björk is not going to be able to play the remaining summer and autumn tour as planned. Björk had been really been looking forward to these concerts, so it is with regret that we announce the cancellation and we hope you understand.”

Grímur Atlason, organizer of Iceland Airwaves, says he is unaware of the reason for the cancelation. He told RÚV today that most of the ticket holders to Björk’s concert are from abroad. He acknowledged that she would be hard to replace at the festival.
