The Stop! group, an organization against building more aluminum smelters and power plants in Iceland, has organized a benefit concert in the Music and sports hall, Laugardalshöll. An international team of musicians comes together in protest of the official policy of using hydroelectric plants for building aluminum plants “at the expense of nature” as the organizers say in their announcement.
The concert is already sold out, 5,500 tickets all in all. This will be the first time that Björk and Damon Albarn of Blur will be appearing together in Iceland. But many more top performers will be appearing at the concert including the following: Ham, Damien Rice, Lisa Hanigan, Magga Stína og hljómsveit, Múm, Sigur Rós, Hjálmar, KK, Rass, Björk, Zeena Parkins, Ghostigital, Damon Albarn and Egó.
