Birdlife in Reykjavík Honored

A special Bird Week kicks off in Reykjavík today, the purpose of which is to raise awareness of the diverse birdlife which exists within city limits and the importance of Reykjavík for the welfare of Icelandic birds.

The program begins with a symposium in the Nordic House at 1 pm today, which is open for everyone. The most important habitats of wild birds in the capital region, the bird photographer’s perspective and how preschoolers learn about birds will be discussed.

Afterwards, at 3 pm, there will be guided bird watching in the reserve in Vatnsmýri, outside the Nordic House. Many other bird-watching events will take place around the city next week, some of which are intended for children, and others which will be in English.

The program is available on the Facebook page of Fuglavernd – BirdLife Iceland environmental conservation society.
