Billions Lost to Cybercrime in Iceland

Cybercrime in Iceland is resulting in annual losses in the ISK billions according to the Ministry of the Interior, ruv.is reports.

A number of hacking cases have been covered in the media, usually because the hackers had announced their actions, but it is expected that many more cases go unreported.

The website of Vodafone telecommunications company in Iceland was hacked last autumn, exposing 30,000 user passwords and 80,000 text messages as well as other confidential customer data such as addresses. The case has received widespread media attention in Iceland.
