Biggest cocaine smuggling in Iceland’s history

Customs officers at Keflavík airport made the biggest cocaine bust in Iceland’s history on Tuesday last week when they caught a man trying to smuggle in three kilos of the drug.

The man, who arrived in Iceland from Copenhagen on 21 November, was arrested after customs officers found the cocaine he was carrying after a random check.

According to Fréttabladid, the cocaine is estimated to be worth between ISK 80 and 120 million (EUR 878,502-1.3 million, USD 1.2-1.7 million).

This year customs officers in Iceland have confiscated eight kilos of cocaine, more than eight times of what was confiscated last year.
