As of autumn 2008, Bifröst University, based in rural west Iceland, will be the first university in Iceland to offer a Bachelors degree in business, taught only in English, responding to the needs of students planning to work in the international arena.
Rector of Bifröst University Ágúst Einarsson said this new program is much needed. “Icelandic society is international now. […] Many people of non-Icelandic background live here, many of them with foreign degrees, and the need for English speakers in the labor market has never been greater. […] We will also market this program abroad.”
Bifröst is a private university located in the quiet Icelandic countryside, surrounded by lava fields, offering degrees in business, law and social science. Bifröst University actively participates in international education and many of its students spend one or more terms abroad.
