Heimir Hallgrímsson, one of the coaches of the Icelandic men’s national football team, now has a beer named after him. The Brothers Brewery in Vestmannaeyjar islands, where Heimir works as a dentist, has named its pale ale in his honor, calling it Heimir. We reported earlier this week that several people in Iceland gave Heimir their vote in the presidential election last Saturday, following his team’s success at the EURO2016.
Heimir pale ale will be available at Ölhúsið pub in Hafnarfjörður on Sunday night, when Iceland is set to meet France in the quarter-finals at the EURO2016 in Paris. So far, beer from the brewery, which is one of Iceland’s smallest, has exclusively been served at the restaurant Einsi kaldi in Vestmannaeyjar. The new beer will also be available there during the Euro Cup.
Einsi kaldi’s owner, Einar Björn Árnason, wil not be available at the restaurant, however, because he is the football team’s official cook.
The bottles are easily recognizable, with Heimir’s face on the label. The alcohol content of the beer is 5.5 percent.
