Baugur case separated into two

The District Court of Reykjavík has decided that charges against two auditors charged in the case filed by the Police against Baugur will heard separately from the other charges in the Baugur case. The charges against the auditors will be heard on February 9 and 10. Both the defense and the prosecution have protested this decision.

The judges also suggested the National Police resume its prosecution of the case. After the majority of charges filed by the Economic Crimes division of the National Police were dismissed last year, and after the Attorney General recused himself because of conflict of interest, a special prosecutor was appointed to prosecute the case.
