The Baugur board has sought legal assistance from British law firm Capcon-Argen Limited, who according to a released statement are specialist in corporate investigations.
The law firm was asked to investigate the charges throughly and prepare a report for Baugur on the case. For the past five weeks they were given full access to the case documents, the defendants, defense counsel and company employees.
The Baugur board called a press meeting this morning to present the results of the report and give the press the opportunity to ask questions.
The defense lawyers will be at the press conference to answer questions regarding concerning Icelandic law and legal procedure.
The Baugur board is composed of Hreinn Loftson, chariman; Hans Christian Hustad; Kristín Jóhannesdóttir, CEO of Gaumur, sister and business partner of Jón Ásgeir and charged in the case; Jóhannes Jónsson, father and business partner of Jón Ásgeir, also charged in the case; Ingibjörg Pálmadóttir, interior designer, owner of 101 Hotel and Jón Ásgeir’s girlfriend; and Thordur Bogason. Alternate board members are Einar Thór Sverrisson and Gudrún Pétursdóttir.
