Three Earthquakes in Bárðarbunga Volcano

Three earthquakes hit Bárðarbunga volcano yesterday afternoon. The largest one was of magnitude 4.3. It hit at 1:47 pm, followed eight minutes later by another one of magnitude 4.1. The third one occurred at 3:20 pm, measuring 3.4. A tremor of magnitude 2.6 hit at 1:50 pm, according to the Icelandic Met Office.

A meeting was held Friday to discuss seismic activity in Bárðarbunga. There, scientists concluded that many years will go by before magma pressure reaches a level as high as it was prior to the eruption of 2014, but they do not rule out volcanic activity in coming years.
