United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will visit Iceland next week, July 2-3.

Ki-moon will hold meetings with Foreign Minister of Iceland Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson and President of Iceland Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson and Prime Minister Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson, as well as visit Þingvellir, the Alþingi parliament and Hellisheiði geothermal power plant.
The Secretary-General will hold a public lecture entitled Iceland and the United Nations: Building a Sustainable Future for All at the University of Iceland at 3 pm on Tuesday, July 2.
During the lecture, the Secretary-General will discuss progress in fighting world poverty and the UN’s role in building and maintaining peace and security.
