Two Icelandic films, Ragnar Bragason’s Metalhead (Malmhaus) and Benedikt Erlingsson’s Of Horses and Men (Hross í oss), which is Iceland’s candidate for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscar’s, will be competing for the best film in the Nordic Focus category.

“The country has produced a number of very well-made, original and artistic films of high-quality. Each of them manifests Iceland’s distinct character in a refreshing and personal way,” a statement from the festival reads.

Some older Icelandic films will also be screened: Baltasar’s 101 Reykjavík, Fridrik Þór Fridriksson’s Movie Days (Bíódagar) and Valdís Óskarsdóttir’s Country Wedding (Sveitabrúðkaup).

The festival runs from January 24 to February 3.
