Baltasar Kormákur’s 2 Guns Premiers in New York

2_gunsThe movie 2 Guns by Icelandic director Baltasar Kormákur, starring Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington, premiered in New York on Monday evening. The movie has received favorable reviews.

“It was of course an incredibly special experience to drive into the city seeing posters everywhere, something I’ve only seen when films by others are advertised, by famous directors,” Baltasar, who attended the premier with his family, told ruv.is.

Most reviews have been positive so far. Variety states that Baltasar knows what he’s doing when it comes to directing action movies and described 2 Guns as funny and fast.

“One cannot ask for more, especially with films that aren’t exactly review-friendly. It’s action, excitement and fun and critics often wants films to be more serious and more world-changing than this, so I wasn’t necessarily expecting [good reviews]. It’s great that the film is off to a good start,” the director commented.

Based on a comedy series of the same name, 2 Guns features a DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) agent and NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) agent, who are both working undercover and end up investigating each other.

2 Guns will open the Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland on August 8.
