Jake Gyllenhaal and Josh Brolin, who star in the film, are reported to be staying in Kathmandu.

Visir.is reports that Icelandic actor Ingvar E. Sigurðsson will also play a major role in the film.

The film is based on the 1997 book Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mt. Everest Disaster.
