Local search and rescue teams have been driving people from essential services such as healthcare to work and have also delivered food to the elderly.

Since the beginning of winter, snow clearing and street maintenance costs have totaled more than ISK 100 million. An additional ISK 40 million in funding for snow clearing has been approved by the Akureyri Town Council.
