Bad Draw for Iceland in Euro 2016 Qualifiers

Iceland was not lucky when the groups were drawn for the 2016 European Championships qualifiers over the weekend. Iceland was drawn into Group A, one of the toughest groups.

Joining Iceland in group A are the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Latvia and Kazakhstan, located 5,200 kilometers from Iceland.

The qualification period runs from September 9, 2014 to October 13, 2015.

The two top-ranked countries of each group progress to the Championships while the third-placed teams go to the play-offs held over two legs in November 2015. The draw for the main tournament in France in June 2016 will take place in December 2015, bbc.com reports.
