Baby Manslaughter Case Goes to Trial

The main hearings in the case of the woman charged with murdering her newborn son and leaving him in a dumpster behind a hotel in Reykjavík where she worked last summer have begun at Reykjavík’s District Court. Rú reports this today.

The defendant has always pleaded innocent and denies having given birth to the baby. She was ordered to undergo psychiatric evaluation, following which she was deemed culpable.

According to ví, the woman, who is Lithuanian and in her early twenties, has been charged with manslaughter by strangling.
