A large avalanche fell on Road 92, the only road connecting the town of Neskaupstaður in the East Fjords, to the rest of the country during rush hour this morning. A snow plow and car were almost hit.

The only hospital in East Iceland is located in the now isolated Neskaupstaður.
Another avalanche closed Road 82, connecting the towns of Dalvík and Ólafsfjörður in North Iceland, around midnight last night when traffic was at a minimum, visir.is reports.
