Autumn Market at Reykjavík Open Air Museum

An outdoor market will be held at the open air museum Árbæjarsafn in Reykjavík’s Árbær district on Sunday, August 25, starting at 1 pm. All who are interested are invited to come sell their products at the market. Entrance is free.

A visit to Árbær Open Air Museum provides visitors with an opportunity to travel back in time, as stated in a press release. The museum area includes a number of old buildings and staff dress in periodical costumes.

The museum was built around the old turf farm and church Árbær. At the Árbær farm tomorrow, the ‘housewife’ will offer freshly-baked lummur (Icelandic scones) to visitors. In the pastures around the farm horses, sheep, lambs, a cow and its calf will be grazing.

As for other festivities this weekend, the Reykjavík Culture Night takes place today and a fireworks show will also be held at Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon in Southeast Iceland tonight.
