The research of a forensic pathologist and the National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police has confirmed that the body discovered by Selvogsviti lighthouse in Reykjanes on Sunday is that of Birna Brjánsdóttir, a 20-year-old Icelandic woman, RÚV reports.
Chief Superintendent Grímur Grímsson would not reveal the nature of her injuries or the cause of death, but he did say that the autopsy confirmed she was murdered. He added that the autopsy showed without a doubt the cause of death.
No further information regarding the autopsy will be provided by the police until the report of the forensic pathologist has been certified. That might not happen until after the weekend.
Two Greenlanders are in police custody, suspected in Birna’s death.
