Australian opens Icelandic elf exhibition in Copenhagen

The Australian artist Christopher Hickey opens an exhibition at Icelandic-owned 12 Tónar Records in Copenhagen on July 13, displaying his work inspired by the Icelandic landscape and local folktales featuring elves, or huldufólk.

“In late 2006 I completed two different series of work related to both the beautiful Icelandic landscape, photographic on canvas, and an extensive series based on the huldufólk legend, comprising of fabric landscapes, characters and poetry,” Hickey told icelandreview.com.

The artist lives in Copenhagen with his Icelandic fiancé Unnur Louise Ragnarsdóttir. They met each other two years ago on MySpace. “I had never left Australia, but we both put our dollars together and I flew over to Reykjavík late December 2005… and it worked,” Hickey said.
