ATM tampering comes to Iceland

Reykjavík police authorities are currently investigating a case in which an automatic payment machine at a gas station was tampered with. Equipment that records PIN numbers from credit and debit cards had been installed in the machine. This is the first such case to come up in Iceland, according to police. Morgunbladid online reports.

Police are investigating whether information from any cards has already been stolen. According to the chief of investigation, the machine had recently been tampered with when the discovery was made, and it is therefore unlikely that much damage has resulted.
