Atlantica’s Septemeber-October Issue Boards Icelandair

Atlantica #5: 2008, the fifth edition of Icelandair’s in-flight magazine this year, is now onboard planes. Titled “Fish Out of Water,” this issue takes travelers around the globe, from Cuba to India and from Iceland to Morocco, offering glimpses into the colorful lives of the locals.

Jonas Moody revels in the pool parties, park life and rooftop cinemas of Brooklyn’s hipster nation while Tobias Munthe gets to know the rough and tumble lives surrounding London’s football fields. Moody and Munthe also provide some colorful accounts of their adventures in the street markets and hammams of Morocco.

Editor Bjarni Bynjólfsson speaks with Dutch photographer Thijs Helsenfeld about his journey to the end of the earth, and contributing photographer Áslaug Snorradóttir tells a story in pictures of Icelandic architect Thóra Gudmundsdóttir who lives her life between Seydisfjördur in East Iceland and Cochin in South India. Also, photographer Páll Stefánsson shares his images of Iceland’s dreamy, summer landscape.

On the musical side, Tobias Munthe sits down to speak with Icelandic songbird Ólöf Arnalds while Atlantica’s devoted music fan Jonas Moody gives a rundown of his picks for the 2008 Iceland Airwaves Music Festival.

Also in this issue, books for your down time, blueberries galore, super hero supplies, the cardboard bicycle, the blimp makes a comeback and riding the scams in Cuba.

Atlantica is published by Heimur Ltd. in cooperation with Icelandair. Passengers are always welcome to take a copy with them from the plane.
