They commented to the Icelandic media after sneaking onboard the plane that they had repeatedly tried to leave the country, usually by sea, adding that they were determined to succeed, visir.is reports.
According to information from the State Prosecutor, the asylum seekers finally fulfilled their mission but it wasn’t disclosed by which means.
The asylum seekers had been charged for their attempts to sneak onboard airplanes and ships but the courts have now resent their case to the State Prosecutor where it is on hold.
Hulda María Stefánsdóttir, a prosecutor working at the State Prosecutor’s Office, said it is possible that the charge will be filed in a different country but no decision has been made on that issue.
