Aston Villa Plays against Iceland’s FH

English Premier League football club Aston Villa will play against Hafnarfjördur football club FH in the qualifying round of the UEFA Cup at Laugardalsvöllur stadium in Reykjavík tonight. All 9,800 tickets for the game are expected to sell out.

Around 300 British Aston Villa supporters are following their team to Iceland to watch them play, Fréttabladid reports.

Manager of FH Heimir Gudjónsson said he did not believe his team had a good chance of beating Aston Villa, who came in seventh in the Premier League last season, but Aston Villa Manager Martin O’Neill said it was important not to underestimate FH.

“I don’t have good memories from Iceland,” O’Neill told reporters, referring to when he lost against Iceland with Northern Ireland in 1977.

A few British police officers will accompany Aston Villa as they usually do when British teams are playing with other European club teams in the UEFA Cup (Union of European Football Associations).

Around 100 people will work in security on Laugardalsvöllur tonight.
