A man, who is in his early thirties, was sentenced to one month in custody last week on suspicion of five assaults, four of which involve young women, and one case of rape, as stated in the custody verdict confirmed by the Supreme Court of Iceland yesterday.
The man was arrested on Wednesday night for the brutal assault of an 18-year old girl at a guesthouse in Reykjavík. The victim suffered serious injuries to her face, Fréttablaðið reports.
The verdict states that the man also held a knife against her throat and threatened to kill her but he denies the implication.
The man, who was born in 1979, has been given 15 criminal sentences since 2002. In 2003 he was sentenced to seven years in prison for attempted murder and assaults.
