ASÍ Art Museum Celebrates Womanhood

In honor of the International Women’s Day, ASÍ Art Museum in Reykjavík opens the exhibition “About a Woman” by Icelandic painter Sigurdur Örlygsson on March 8. It revolves around incidents that occur in the lives of women.

The paintings on display are divided into three different phases and each group of paintings is exhibited in different spaces within the museum.

“The cat is leaving”, oil on canvas/190×190 cm.

Örlygsson studied at the Icelandic School of Arts and Crafts, the Academy of Arts in Copenhagen and the Art Students League in New York. He is one of Iceland’s most prominent contemporary painters and has held more than 40 solo exhibitions.

ASÍ Art Museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm and admission is free. “About a Woman” closes March 30.
