Icelandic musician Ásgeir Trausti has received six nominations for the 2013 Iceland Music Awards to be held in February. Retro Stefson and Moses Hightower also have six nominations each whereas Jónas Sigurðsson has been nominated in four categories and Sigur Rós three, ruv.is reports.

Ásgeir was nominated in the following categories: Best Songwriter (Pop and Rock), Best Vocalist (Pop, Rock, Jazz and Blues), Best Album (Pop and Rock) and Best Song (Pop and Rock). Einar Georg Einarsson was nominated for Best Lyricist for Ásgeir’s album Dýrð í dauðaþögn and Guðmundur Kristinn Jónsson as Best Producer for the album.
Moses Hightower were nominated in the same categories, as was Retro Stefson with the exception of Best Lyricist; Retro Stefson was instead nominated in the Best Performer category.
Ásgeir Trausti currently holds the top spot in the Icelandic charts with his hit single ‘Dýrð í dauðaþögn,’ which is being translated into English by American musician John Grant.
Jónas Sigurðsson and Retro Stefson rank third and sixth with ‘Hafið er svart’ and ‘Glow,’ respectively.
The nominees were announced at a ceremony in Harpa concert hall this morning.
