Around 10,000 cars have been sold in Iceland so far this year, the same number as during the same period in 2007, prior to the 2008 crash.
“Individuals and general companies are buying cars in larger numbers than before and car rentals are buying more because of the increase in tourists to the country,” director of Brimborg car agency told Morgunblaðið today.
Car sales among individuals have increased by 40 percent compared to the same period last year while sales among car rentals increased by 31 percent during the same period. Cars sold to car rentals now make up 55 percent of all sold cars compared to 19 percent in 2007.
