Artist Gives Visitors a Tour of “Equivocal” Exhibition

Visual artist Katrín Elvarsdóttir will greet visitors to her exhibition “Equivocal” in Gallerí Ágúst in central Reykjavík today between 1 and 3 pm and tell them about her photographic work on display.

“Trailer after Midnight”

“We are situated inside and look outside. We are situated outside and look inside. A woman in a red coat, a trailer after dark, yellow curtains – everything is a clue of a fragmentary narrative which provokes questions rather than providing answers,” the artist says in description of her work.

“In the photographic series of ‘Equivocal’ we witness unclear events which we have accidentally participated in. Like uninvited guests to a set which refuses to reveal whether it is real or fictional. The fragments are arranged together and force an ambiguous narrative upon us. Whether we like it or not,” Elvarsdóttir concludes.

“Equivocal” will be on display in Gallerí Ágúst until September 27.
