Artist’s Glacier Video Garners Attention

An ambitious collaborative art film, OPUS/YOU AGAIN, made by performance artist Kitty Von-Sometime and band Árstíðir has been released. Shot on Iceland’s second-largest glacier Langjökull, the video features a 160-kilo (350-pound) ice sculpture.

The video has been published on out.com, the website of U.S. OUT Magazine, and on Icelandic national broadcaster RÚV’s video web, Örvarpið, where it was named ‘video of the week’ last Thursday.

Originally from the U.K., Kitty considers the piece to be an artistic statement on her relationship with Iceland and a love letter to her wife, as described in a press release.

Carved in Reykjavík and containing a lamb’s heart frozen in its center, the ice sculpture had to be transported to the glacier with specialized vehicles.

The collaboration with Árstíðir began when Kitty heard early demos from the band’s upcoming third album, Hvel, and together they developing a strategy of how to bring the music and visual concept together.

Árstíðir’s song ‘You Again’ is the b-side of their first single Things You Said from Hvel, scheduled for release in November.

The ‘making of’ video is available here.
