Art Without Boundaries Festival Begins in Iceland

The festival List án landamaera (“Art Without Boundaries”) begins today. It is an annual art festival in Iceland with events taking place in towns across the country. The festival aims to promote the art of people with disabilities and to facilitate cooperation between people with and without disabilities.

Different parties work together on various art projects, which has shown great results in the past. The cooperation has led to greater understanding between people for the greater good of the whole community, visitreykjavik.is states.

The participants provide a good picture of the variety and vibrancy of the art life in Iceland. There are many talented people with disabilities who sometimes lack the opportunity to express themselves artistically.

People with disabilities are not visible in the common cultural environment. List án landamaera wants to change that and believes crossing the boundaries between different groups and individuals plays an important role in society.

The festival runs through May 9.
