A Nordic conference entitled “Life and Art Without Boundaries” takes place in Reykjavík on Monday. It is hosted by a group of organizations, which are also responsible for hosting an event with the same name every year, focusing on bringing people with disabilities and the general public together in art.
During the annual “Life and Art Without Boundaries” event, different groups and individuals join hands through culture as participants and audience in order to increase awareness and understanding between people of different abilities for the benefit of society as a whole.
The organizers of “Life and Art Without Boundaries” are Landssamtökin Throskahjálp (National organization of people with disabilities), Öryrkjabandalag Íslands (The Organization of Disabled in Iceland), Fjölmennt (adult education for people with disabilities), Átak (Association of the Mentally handicapped), and Hitt húsid (Center for young people in Reykjavík).
This conference is organized in cooperation with the Nordic Council on Disability Policy and the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of Iceland, with the support of the Nordic Council of Ministers. The conference is held as part of the programme of Nordic Cooperation under the chairmanship of the Icelandic government in 2009.
The conference takes place at the Grand Hotel and is open to all those who are interested in the topic. There is no participation fee, but participants are required to register with the organizers. Email: [email protected] for further information.
