Team U.S. got their World Cup preparation off to a positive start with a 2-0 win over Azerbaijan in San Francisco last night in a friendly ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.
The Americans struggled to break down a disciplined Azeri defense but second half substitutions proved to be the difference, reuters reports.
Mix Diskerud scored the first goal in the 75th minute followed by another, eight minutes later, by Icelander Aron Jóhannsson.
Aron will be the first Icelander to play in the World Cup.
