No one was harmed when an apartment caught fire in Tálknafjörður in the West Fjords yesterday evening but the apartment is severely damaged.

The apartment was vacant when the fire started. However, people were at home in three other apartments in the building. They noticed smoke coming from the vacant apartment and were able to exit the building in time, visir.is reports.
Local firefighters and members of the neighboring towns Patreksfjörður and Bíldudalur arrived to the scene and extinguished the fire. Its origin is unknown.
