Anything Possible with the Right Attitude

Ásdís Hjálmsdóttir will represent Iceland in javelin at the London Olympic Games. She says that preparations for the competition are in full swing, everything is running smoothly and she is getting very excited, reports.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

Ásdís is one of only two Icelandic contestants who have earned the right, so far, to compete in this year’s Olympic Games. Her goal is set high and she is training hard. She says that mental preparation is just as important. She has, for example, attended a Dale Carnegie-seminar and gone to see a sports therapist.

But Ásdís has had more on her plate than javelin throwing. Recently she graduated with a Master’s degree in pharmacology and received a grade of 10,0 for her final thesis. That is the highest possible grade in the Icelandic grading system and also the highest grade anyone has received in this field. And what is her secret? Ásdís says that anything can be accomplished with the right attitude.
