A man attacked radio presenter Gudmundur Franklín Jónsson in the facilities of the radio station Útvarp Saga in Reykjavík today after he had just completed an interview in the studio. Earlier this week, a rapper tried to stab another rapper before a joint radio interview.
According to visir.is, Jónsson was attacked by Eiríkur Stefánsson, the former chairman of the Fáskrúdsfjördur labor union, who had called and asked questions during the show, which was about the fishing industry, until Jónsson ended the conversation.
Stefánsson then came to Útvarp Saga and attacked Jónsson when he emerged from the studio. MP Illugi Gunnarsson and former MP Grétar Mar Jónsson, who had been guests on the show, were quick to step between the two men and defend the radio presenter. Stefánsson then smashed his computer on the floor.
The radio presenter has confirmed these events but is not planning to file charges. He said Stefánsson obviously has a problem with his temper. Stefánsson would not comment on this story.
