Angelína Approved in Iceland

By Iceland Review

The Icelandic Naming Committee has approved the female names Angelína, Luna, Tildra, Hofdís and Eilíf (meaning eternal), in addition to the male name Eyjar (meaning islands).

Incidentally, the decision was announced on Friday, four days before American actress Angeline Jolie made it public that she had filed for divorce from her husband, American actor Brad Pitt, Vísir points out. The name Brad or Bradley is not on the list of approved Icelandic names.

The daughters of Paul and Andrzej were allowed to be called Pálsdóttir and Andradóttir. A female by the name Katarzyna was allowed to change it to Katrína, in order to sound more Icelandic.
