The Fimmvörduháls eruption was a nice friendly, touristy eruption. It came in a completely unexpected but remote place. The lava was beautiful and picturesque and even though you had to brave the bitter cold for hours, it was still accessible. It caused almost no harm.

When Eyjafjallajökull awoke for the fourth time in a thousand years it was completely different. Floods, ash and lightings frighten not only the local residents but millions of citizens all over Europe.
The photo series below was taken between 19.30 and 21.00 Saturday the 17th by Iceland Review. In the beginning it seemed like the eruption was fading but suddenly it started in full force again.
