American Billionaire Filmed with Icelandic Ministers – Wants to Make all Books Digital

scannerAn American billionaire and internet innovator Brewter Kahle met with Industrial Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir and Interior Minister Ögmundur Jónasson to discuss the possibilty that Iceland move all its books to digital form.

According to visir.is this would make Iceland the first nation to make all books available digitally. The web site estimates the cost to be one million USD (700 thousand €) [Iceland Review note: This seems to be a very low estimate]. American film maker, Judith Ehrlich, filmed the meeting.

Kahle has already developed software that has transferred about 2.5 million books of other nations to digital form.
