Capturing these amazing photographs of a white-tailed eagle feeding its young was no easy feat.
Married photographer couple Gyða Henningsdóttir and Einar Guðmann spent up to 14 hours a day, for days at a time, sitting over the eagles’ nest in a small camouflaged tent, waiting for an opportunity to capture the babies’ feeding time on film.
“It helps, especially during this long stretch of time waiting for the eagle, that we’re in this together. That makes a huge difference. You couldn’t do this alone, I think,” Gyða told Morgunblaðið.
Photography near and around eagle nests is dependent on permission from the Icelandic Institute of Natural History, and this photo series was produced in collaboration with them.
Both Einar and Gyða are adamant about maintaining authenticity in their photography, and would, for instance, never photograph hand-fed eagles.
“It needs to be real, otherwise it doesn’t count.”
