The company Bechtel plans to hire up to 1500 employees to build the new aluminium smelter in Reydarfjordur, east Iceland. The aluminium smelter will be owned by Alcoa, Inc.
According to RUV news, the company expects to hire roughly 1000 Polish workers. The company stated that while it hopes to hire as many Icelanders as possible, the work force is too small.
