Akureyri Theater (LA) in northeast Iceland set yet another box office record yesterday when ticket sales for Fló á skinni (A Flea in Her Ear) by Georges Feydeau, which will premiere February 8, opened.
LA sold 3,000 tickets in total, a new record in Akureyri, and the first 15 performances are already sold out, Morgunbladid reports.
A Flea in Her Ear (1907) is one of the most popular farces of all time. The play will be performed according to a new dramatization by Gísli Rúnar Jónsson and its director is María Sigurdardóttir. Young band Sprengjuhöllin writes the music.
LA is the only professional theater in Iceland outside the capital region. Since Magnús Geir Thórdarson became theater director in 2004, LA has been extremely successful.
