Akureyri Team Icelandic Champion in Ice Hockey

The Akureyri ice hockey team, Skautafélag Akureyrar (SA), beat the Reykjavík team Björninn 6-2 at their home base yesterday. With the victory SA became the Icelandic champion in ice hockey.

“Our game strategy to keep the puck and play aggressive offence the entire game worked out,” SA’s coach Josh Gribben, who is also a player, told visir.is.

Björninn was in the lead at the beginning of the game but SA quickly evened out the score. In the second round, SA was the stronger team throughout.

Five minutes into the third round, Björninn managed to lower the difference but it wasn’t enough and SA stood up as winner and Icelandic champion.
