This morning, the inhabitants of North Iceland’s capital woke up to a town covered with snow. According to the Akureyri police, anyone who does not drive an SUV or other kind of specially equipped vehicle should take time to assess road conditions before leaving their homes as residential areas are filled with snow, mbl.is reports.

According to the Ísafjörður Police there is little snow and weather conditions are fine for now. There is more snow in the nearby village of Bolungarvík.
Today’s weather forecast, according to the Icelandic Met Office is as follows: northeast 13 to 25 m/s and sleet or snow in the West Fjords and in Breiðafjörður, West Iceland, but lighter elsewhere. It will be mainly dry in the southwest, but showers or intermittent rain in the east. Increasing northerly winds tomorrow with snow showers in the north. The temperature is predicted to range from 0 to 7°C (32-44.6°F), warmest in the southernmost part, but becoming colder tomorrow.
