Airplane Mechanics Still on Strike, Delaying Flights

By Iceland Review

The third in the series of strikes among Icelandair’s airplane mechanics took place at Keflavík International Airport between 6 and 10 am this morning, preventing the airline’s planes from taking off in that period.

Delays were also caused to Icelandair’s flights yesterday and on Wednesday because of the airplane mechanics’ striking action between 6 and 10 am.

A fruitless meeting was held at the facilities of the State Negotiator yesterday in an attempt to resolve the wage dispute and a new meeting is scheduled today in the afternoon, reports.

If the dispute is not resolved in ten days, airplane mechanics plan to go on a strike for an undefined period of time which would paralyze all of Icelandair’s flights to and from the country.
