Iceland’s domestic airline Air Iceland recently reached an agreement with the Icelandic Road Administration on continued scheduled flights between Reykjavík and the Westman Islands. The agreement will take effect November 1, 2007.
Director of the Road Administration Jón Rögnvaldsson and managing director of Air Iceland Árni Gunnarsson shake hands on the agreement.
Air Iceland began flying regularly to the Islands in October last year.
The new agreement includes 15 scheduled flights between Reykjavík and the Westman Islands per week in winter and 20 per week in summer. The lowest fare is ISK 3,990 (USD 66, EUR 47).
The agreement was made following a tender offer made by the Ministry of Transport last summer. The agreement is valid until the end of 2009 but can be prolonged for two years, until the end of 2011.
