Aerial Photos of Iceland: “Out-of-This-World Nature”

Pictures of Icelandic landscapes shot from air by Russian photographer Andrey Ermolaev have garnered considerable attention in the online media, including on dailymail.co.uk where they were posted yesterday.

Under the headline “Out-of-this-world nature: Iceland’s landscapes look like alien planets in these amazing aerial photos,” journalist Sam Webb goes on to say, “With their bizarre coloured surfaces and unusual landscapes, these stunning photographs look like they were taken on an alien planet.”

The pictures were shot from a Cessna light aircraft. Ermolaev flew 4,300 miles over Iceland to reveal the country’s “hidden beauty,” as described by the Mail Online.

Ermolaev, who is 56, said he has gotten strong reactions to his photographs, explaining that the landscapes are so unusual that people don’t realize immediately what is in the photographs, mbl.is reports.
