Accommodation nights up by 11 percent in July

By Iceland Review

Accommodation nights at Icelandic hotels totalled 175,900 in July, as compared with 158,000 in the same month last year, accounting for an 11 percent increase between years. The number of accommodation nights rose in all parts of Iceland, although the greatest relative increase was in the western part of the country.

In the Greater Reykjavík Area, the increase was just over 13 percent, with accommodation nights going from 92,400 to 104,800 between years. The increase may be attributed to both Icelanders and foreigners, or 5 percent and 12 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, the number of accommodation places in hotels went up between years. The number of hotel rooms went from 3,773 to 3,886 between years, and the number of beds from 7,659 to 7,900 between years, accounting for a 3 percent increase in both cases.
